Important Vocabulary to know:
Hypothesis a formal affirmative statement predicting a single research outcome.
Population any group of individuals that has one or more characteristics in common and that are of interest to the researcher.
Sample a small proportion of the population that is selected for observation and analysis.
Validity a test that does what it was designed to do.
Reliabilty a tool that is consistent.
Dependent Variable a variable that is measured to see whether the treatment or manipulation of the independent variable had an effect.
Independent Variable a variable that is manipulated to examine its impact on a dependent variable.
Types of Research
Nonexperimental- an example of this is Qualitative, it examines human behavior and the social, cultural and political contexts within which it occurs
Experimental- an example of this is Quasi-experimental that test for causal relationships without having full control.
